The Whitchurch Mosaic Arts Trail in Shropshire was created between 2007-9 by local community groups. This picture shows the launch of the trail in July 09 at the Heritage Centre in Whitchurch. Map leaflets showing the trail route and information about the 16 mosaics on the trail are available from the Heritage Centre and mosaic venues.

A great variety of groups and local people aged between 2 and 94 took part in the project.

 Mosaic made by the Walking for Health group about one of their frequent walks through Whitchurch town centre.

Stonham Housing mosaic. Residents and staff made this mosaic about where they live.


Chapel Centre mosaic made by members of the Centre community in the shape of the building. This shows activities that take place in the Centre; computer skills, Walking for Health, Keep Fit, tea drinking and much more!

Where it all started! Whitchurch CE Infant School mosaic  about the local area and town. Made by over 70 children, parents and staff in May 2007, this is the first mosaic made for the project.

A group from Age Concern working on a mosaic for the Kingsway Court Day Centre, Whitchurch

    The Whitchurch Beavers and pupils from Woodlands School made this mosaic about local history for the Heritage Centre.

Created by hospital patients, staff and visitors showing the life of the hospital. This mosaic celebrates 60 years of the NHS

This mosaic was made by a group from the Travellers community at Prees, near Whitchurch. It is on display in Wem at the Mythstories Museum as part of an exhibition about the Travellers way of life.

A mosaic waymarker post on The Hatton Way in Whitchurch, created by a local cyclists and a group from the Chapel Centre. Shows Sustrans Route 45 on it’s way through the town.
